Zohran Mamdani Promises a 'Fresh Chapter' for New York City in First Address
In a first day in office, Zohran Mamdani committed to “reimagine” New York City, promising “a new era” and an ambitious start to his term.
A Historic Mayor
The 34-year-old democratic socialist, who just a year ago remained a virtually unknown state assemblyman, is the city's first mayor of South Asian descent. He also made history by being the inaugural to be take the oath of office using the Qur'an.
